Orchestra Broadcasts

The Philadelphia Orchestra is broadcast on National Public Radio’s SymphonyCast and Performance Today. Through the Orchestra’s Global Concert Series, the Orchestra also distributes live concerts via internet2 to select colleges and universities around the world, which in some cases open the concerts to the general public.

The Philadelphia Orchestra on SymphonyCast:
SymphonyCast airs in the Philadelphia region on WHYY-FM and at www.whyy.org/91FM on Sundays at 10:00 p.m.

The Philadelphia Orchestra on Performance Today:
Performance Today airs locally on WHYY’s High Definition radio channel, called Experience: The WHYY Arts & Information Service, weekdays at 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.  This channel is available to listeners with HD Radio receivers and is also available (in addition to WHYY’s regular FM programming) at www.whyy.org/91FM. Performance Today playlists are available daily at www.NPR.org.

The Philadelphia Orchestra on Internet2:
The Philadelphia Orchestra’s Global Concert Series delivers live concerts with interactive content to venues at select universities and colleges around the world via Internet2, a network of institutions that develop and deploy revolutionary internet technologies.  This groundbreaking arts program is designed to reach students, educators and the entire community.  Live Orchestra performances from Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center are distributed in high definition and are enhanced with close-up views of the conductor and musicians on stage; entertaining and informative introductions and intermission features; and interviews with musicians, conductors, and guest artists.  Interactive components allow for audience participation during the live multicast via e-mail and text messaging.
